Peggy Hood, M.Ed.
Peggy began her career in education 33 years ago as an elementary teacher. After 10 years of teaching elementary students, she changed her focus to high school students hospitalized for a variety of emotional reasons. After a fulfilling experience working with these students, she began to pursue her career in school administration. As an elementary school principal, she had the privilege of leading her campus to an improved academic rating. She also introduced new educational programming and improved instruction for her students and staff. Her career in school administration continued as a special education coordinator in a large school district near Houston, Texas. From that position she became the Assistant Director of Special Education and eventually the Director of Special Education for a Houston area charter school.
During her career, Peggy has had the opportunity to support schools in a leadership role. She has had extensive experience in staff mentoring and supervision and has provided staff development for a variety of audiences. In addition, she has provided support and training for campuses in establishing positive behavior support systems. She has also given direction for campuses and individual staff members in the selection and implementation of appropriate learning and instructional strategies that are based on individual student needs.
Peggy received a Bachelor of Science degree, as well as a Master of Education degree from the University of Texas in Tyler. In addition, she is certified in the areas of special education and mid-management.
