a_gielser_lgAmy Giesler, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Elementary School Counselor in Northern New Jersey. She has over ten years of experience working with children in the school setting, primarily with students experiencing emotional and behavioral disorders. Amy has trained extensively in specialized therapeutic and behavioral techniques such as play therapy, crisis intervention, parent coaching, social skills instruction, and positive behavior management. Serving children in the field of education has allowed her to acquire particular expertise working with childhood emotional issues such as ADHD, anxiety, oppositional defiance, learning differences, trauma, depression, adjustment difficulties, social skills deficits, and anger management. She has a keen understanding of the manifestations these complex issues have in the educational setting.

Amy received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Fordham University of Manhattan, New York, where she graduated summa cum laude in 1997. Amy’s career background includes serving as a Clinical Supervisor and SWPBS Coordinator in a private school for students with emotional and behavioral needs. She has implemented multi-tiered SWPBS programs including a School Wide Code of Conduct, Behavioral Expectation Instructional Events for students, individual intervention plans, discipline programs, and behavioral data tracking systems. Amy has received advanced training in functional behavioral assessment and intervention planning through the NJ Positive Behavior Support in School project. While Amy enjoys all aspects research, prevention, and intervention, she is particularly invested in providing social skills instruction and coaching to school aged children.
